The Syrian Civil war is between the Ba’athist Syrian Arab republic led by Syrian President Bashar al-Assad fighting against those who oppose the government. The Syrian government has been accused of severe human rights violations in the past. This is an ongoing battle that began around March 15th, 2011 and is currently still occurring to present day.
Over 465,000 Syrians have been killed throughout the years due to the civil war. A major factor in the events leading up to the war was that the Syrian government held 15 boys captive and brutally tortured them and even killed one of the boys; he was 13 years old. Rebel armies began to form as well. The people had had enough, and thus the revolution began.
