U.S Olympic Performance

The United States has always been top competitors in the Winter Olympics, but this year it has been a little different, taking place in Pyeong Chang, South Korea. This year they placed 4th overall with 23 medals, 9 gold, 8 silver, and 6 bronze. This resulting in the worst winter Olympic performance since 1998.

Even though the U.S didn’t perform the way they wanted to, there was still some positive things that came out of the performances. One of those things is getting their 1st gold medal ever in Curling. Another positive outcome was that they got their 100th gold medal in US history.

A few other gold medalists at the games were Shaun White, a half pipe snowboarder, and Chloe Kim another halfpipe snowboarder.

Overall, the United State’s performance wasn’t too great, but there were some big highlights at Pyeong Chang for them. These Olympians work hard every day and hope to come back stronger than ever in the next Winter Olympics.
