Norovirus outbreak at the winter olympics

At the winter olympics in South Korea there has been a Norovirus outbreak. 41 security guards have been hospitalized after getting the Norovirus. 1200 other security guards have now been pulled from duty and replaced with 900 military personnel.


The security guards were suffering from vomiting and diarrhea. The outbreak came just days before the start of the 2018 olympics. The military personnel will be in charge of the security checks for all 20 events.


All of the security guards were staying in the same building in Pyeongchang. The water and food is being tested. Security checks at the olympics have been increased.


The winter olympics committee said that they are going to strengthen the checks of the staffs’ sleeping quarters. They do not know how the guards got infected but they are said to be in stable condition.
