Knowledge Bowl Brings Home the Gold!

The WCHS Knowledge Bowl team competed in the first meet of the 2017-2018 season on Nov. 4, 2017 at Fort Lupton High School. The other competing teams were Fort Lupton, Elizabeth, Fort Morgan, Skyview, and Alameda. The teams fought hard to be in the top two rooms, where they would compete for 1st through 6th place and kick off the rest of the competitive season. When all was said and done, Weld Central’s top team- the Weld Central Nixons- took 1st place with 96 points. 2nd went to Fort Morgan with 92 points, Fort Lupton was 3rd with 69 points, Elizabeth in 4th with 87 points, Skyview took 5th with 61 points, and Alameda took 6th with 54 points. The reason Fort Lupton kept 3rd with 69 points and Elizabeth kept 4th with 87 points is because the top two rooms are “locked,” meaning teams can only compete for the top position in their own room. There are three teams per room, so the top room is teams competing for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, while the second room is teams competing for 4th, 5th, and 6th, regardless of final scores. The Colorado 7 Knowledge Bowl season scores can be found online at the link below, along with the following meet dates and their locations. Scores are in golf scoring. Weld Central’s top team consisted of junior Wyatt Halley, senior Reese Clark, junior Daniel Smith, junior Bret Johnson, and freshman Rebekah Jeffrey. Congratulations to all teams!
