This launch will be a long one, and it will return in November of 2018 if everything goes as planned with this launch. The launching location will be at the Vandenberg Air Force in California. The launching vehicle will be the Atlas V401. When this launch gets to Mars, the site that NASA will be able to see it from will be Elysium Planitia Mars. NASA Discovery Program Mission that will place a single geophysical lander on Mars to study its deeper interior. NASA is performing this to have a better understanding of the processes that shaped the rocky planets of the inner solar system more than a couple billion years ago. There are 142 million miles to be covered on Mars with 4220 million miles diameter. The average temperature is 81 degrees Fahrenheit and their year is 687 days with only 24 hours and 37 minutes in a day over there. Therefore, when this launch comes back, we will all be tremendously excited to hear what else NASA has to add to the information that is already known.
