National Finals Rodeo is like the super bowl for cowboys. Cowboys and Cowgirls work really hard to make it through 30+ rodeos to just qualify for the NFR. The Thomas & Mac Center is the host of this famous event. December 6-17th the top 15 qualifiers in each event qualify to attend the NFR. After every go-round, they have the ceremony. At the end of the night, the people with the fastest time and the highest scores from each event go to the South Point Hotel. At the end of round 10, they add up all the money that was won throughout the year. Whoever won the most money in their event, wins a gold buckle and the title of world champion.
There are 10 days of nothing but fun because of all the shops and stores. There is a Cowboy Christmas held every year at the convention center. Many people come attend that event. There are over 1000 vendors trying to sell all of their cool items. The largest horse trailer and tack sales are during NFR. Companies like Bloomer trailers and others have sales that can’t be found anywhere else. Over 10 days, and with over 175,000 people walking through the convention center and Thomas & Mac, it’s an event worth witnessing. If you get a chance in December, try to stop by; it will be the time of your life!
