On October eighth, multiple wildfires were set ablaze in Northern California by a malfunctioning transformer and power line, along with other ways. All of which authorities say were caused directly by humans. The fires have burned a total of 220,000 acres so far and even though they are now largely contained, still continue to scorch land, and more importantly, homes. The fires have destroyed 3500 plus structures and counting, and are responsible for the deaths of at least 41 people. Over 400 people still remain missing. An estimated 20,000 people have been forced to evacuate and that number is expected to rise like the other numbers.
Firefighting crews from california and neighboring states have remained vigilant and have contained the main fires up to 60%. However, a new problem has been created as smaller fires are springing up in random spots, requiring the attention and resources of crews to contain and extinguish before they grow out of hand.
Our thoughts and prayers here at The Rebel Times are with the people affected by these fires.
