In 2016, we elected our new president, Donald Trump, who has stated that he will “make America great again.” Has President Trump kept his word? During the 2016 campaign, Mr. Trump stated that he is going to build a wall on our southern border. Here’s the catch: President Trump doesn’t want the money coming from U.S. pockets; he wants Mexico to pay for it. The Mexican government has announced that they will not pay for Trump’s border wall. Due to this announcement, Trump scheduled a meeting with Mexico’s president, Enrique Pena Nieto, who later cancelled the meeting. Mr. Trump expressed displeasure that Nieto cancelled the meeting, so he continued to make comments on social media about the wall. One of Trump’s comments states, “With Mexico being one of the highest crime nations in the world, we must have the wall.” These tweets still continue, and they show no signs of stopping. As of Monday, Aug. 28, Trump is still fighting over the wall that he wants Mexico to pay for. He promises, one way or another, Mexico will pay for the wall. Will dividing the U.S from Mexico make America great again?
