Mad Bracket Changes In March Madness

By Austin Knox

March Madness is a tournament where the best 68 college basketball teams in the country come together, ready to play. To make it past all 6 rounds, each team needs to have will-power, focus, and determination. These games are full of surprises, and no one can predict who will win. Two main games that have already happened that surprised the whole nation were Duke vs. South Carolina, and the Villanova vs. Wisconsin.

The first game, Duke vs. South Carolina, was tough for Duke’s Blue Devils. Duke sharp-shooter Luke Kennard ended up with 4 fouls in the last 8 minutes of the game — this was big because they needed someone to score. On the other side of the floor, the Gamecocks’ Sindarius Thornwell finished the night with 24 points and 6 rebounds, shooting 6-14 from the field. The end of the game was close, with South Carolina missing none of their shots. They fought through and beat Duke, a team predicted to make it far in the tournament, stealing their predicted spot in The Sweet 16.

The other shocking game was Villanova vs. Wisconsin. Villanova was the winners of last year’s March Madness, and predicted to succeed again this season. However, Wisconsin was just too much for Villanova. Both of Wisconsin’s “big men” had 8 rebounds, scoring in the double digits. The whole game was back and forth down the court, until Vilanova was forced to foul to try to get the ball back. With this, Wisconsin didn’t miss their free throws and won the game.

A game you should look forward to Thursday night is the UCLA Bruins vs. the Kentucky Wildcats, a number 3 seed vs a number 2 seed, so you know it’s going to be a good match.
