A Slap in the Face

By Matthew Sims

SONY DSCLately there seems to be a new trend over social media. Who would have known something so little as a high five would be blowing up in today’s society? But why is a high five gaining more popularity? The whole concept behind the trend is quite pointless, in all honesty, but is fun to explore and watch.

The craze surrounds the normal mirror selfie, but with a twist. Somebody out there on the internet believed mirror selfies are too easy and tried doing it with no hands — it worked! In only a couple of days, the selfie high five has taken the internet by storm. There are thousands of these unique selfies all over the internet.

However, a high-five selfie is not the only news in the online sphere. With all the new Galaxy Note S7 on the market, there is a problem with phones igniting into flames. The company says it’s a defect in the phone’s inefficient design. The phone blowing up might be more of a trend as well.

SSamsung Galaxy S7amsung is usually a durable phone model, but lately, the durability has really gone down in quality, as less phones are able to survive a falling impact. But maybe the cause of the phones being lit on fire and exploding is the landing of the phones after the selfie high five has been taken! It’s a rough landing, and that might just lead to an explosion.

We shouldn’t blame the defective phone for all of it’s problems, let’s blame the internet, and the “nifty” ideas that may come from it.
