Traditionally, Weld Central bleeds red, white, and blue, but on October 6th, we added a little pink into the mix as the Lady Rebels played their hearts out in their “Pink” game against the Englewood Pirates.
Pink ribbons were given out to the volleyball fans and hair ties wrapped in pink ribbon were given to the opposing team in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Recognizing the survivors and remembering the victims of breast cancer is important to the Lady Rebels. “I think it’s a great opportunity to show our support for breast cancer.” states volleyball player Christina Gerkin. “It also shows the other team that honoring those who have fought and are currently fighting breast cancer is important.”
The Rebels came out with great intensity, ensuring the win of the first set 25-17. Unfortunately, the pirates didn’t let the Rebels escape with another win, stealing the second set with a 25-23 win for Englewood.
However, the home team wasn’t giving up yet. The Weld Central Rebels came back in the third set, winning a killer 25-11 points, and a stunning 25-18 win in the final, giving the Rebels an impressive win for their pink game!
